FIFA 19 could have Champions League licence for first time

FIFA 19 will be unveiled at the EA Play event in June.

But a senior director from the Japanese entertainment group has confirmed that their will be no new deal, meaning EA Sports' rival game FIFA 19 could now get the licence.

PES 2009 first was the first of the annual Konami releases to allow gamers to play in the Champions League, with the Uefa Europa League and the Uefa Super Cup following in later editions.

In 2015, a year ahead of the initial deal running out, Konami announced that it had agreed an extra three years that takes them through to 2019.

Konami's Jonas Lygaard said: "The UEFA Champions League licence has given us a platform to create unique experiences and provide football fans from all over the world with an opportunity to enjoy this competition first-hand.
